Have you tried those repellant sprays, now you can get them in the supermarket, I know it's not brilliant as perfume but it might help.
I'm not allergic but if there is mosquitoes around, they always seem to target me first for some reason!!

I was just in my garden attending the tomatoes, and one of the critters reminded me of the mosquito thread here.
I am not keen on using chemicals and yet, the only effective repellents are chemicals. Otherwise you can try using some essential oil of geranium, bergamot, and maybe some others. Some of those you have to dilute. It will at least make you smell good - not to the mosquitoes it won't!
I would recommend using the "Aspivenin" kit. It costs 15 euros in most pharmacies, and it is completely mechanical, there is a kind of syringe and some "suckers" (different sizes for different kinds of bites) and if you apply it as soon as you can after ANY bite (even snake and scorpion, but also spider and mosquitoes), it draws out the venom - saliva in the case of mosquito. It's not a miracle cure, yet it is pretty effective and diminishes the demented itching effect.
Presumably, if you don't have a mosquito net in your bedroom, you are also familiar with the device that just plugs into any electric socket and remains effective for 8 hours or so. Every night you have to put in a new cartridge, and I am not sure how lethal the chemicals are in there, but it is remarkably effective in keeping you mosquito-free while you sleep! You can get that in any "droguerie".
I hear there are scares of Nile fever down in the Camargue. When are we gonna have chikungunya too? It does feel that they are getting more vicious every year too! Maybe different breeds!

Cheer up. I lived on a boat in Cherboug for 18 months, in the Bassin du Commerce in the centre of town. We weren't guite in "Mosquito Corner" but the little bastards can fly a few yards. Trust me, nowt whatever is wrong with their wings!
What you want is Mosquito Coils. Look in supermarkets like Continent, Carrefour, Bon Marche etc, in the general direction of things like light bulbs and suchike. The coils are green, two to a flat-pack wrapped in plastic and they come with nifty little metal stands. Get a box of matches and light the outboard end of the coil. Set the coils up wherever they will be useful. Enjoy a Mozzie Free Experience thereafter. Nothing else works but the Coils most assuredly do. Probably not good for the atmosphere, but it is a case of those or be drained of your own blood! Your choice. We chose Mosquito Coils and they DO work, 100%.
Cheers

LOL thanx people
I need to smoother myself in something for sure! at night for some reason no problems, its in the day outside
today i have been swamped again and now both hands are puffed up, my feet are too, now painful to walk, one elbow is so swallen it looks like it has water on it. you xant imagine the state of my legs either.
I did read someplace that if you burn the bite spot with a cigarette it draws out the problem and stops the swelling? Tried that........... now I have a burn beside and itchy mark!!!
gonna have to crush geranium leaves and rub myself all over I think

It comes back to me now, CITRONELLE is the stuff to rub on yourself which is supposed to be the most efficient (apart from the other chemical solutions).

You'll do yourself an injury with this stuff! As the doc said, yours is plainly an extreme version of an allergy to mozzies. Go to the nearest hospital, I suggest, because anaphylactic shock may not be an impossibility with a reaction as extreme as your own. Don't wait till you feel ill. Or if you are in an area where SOS Medicin operate, they are SUPERB. A doctor would be with you within 20 minutes and the up-front price is about £20 GBP, all of which you can reclaim via Form E111.
Deal with the reaction first. You defo need anti-histamine and you might need antibiotic cream on top, to prevent the bits you have scratched from becoming infected. Once you have recovered a bit, buy some mozzie coils to prevent this from happening again.

Thank you Gnut
but i'm ok really, i am not an allergy prone person, I am sure these nasty ass buggers are breeding in the pond next door!!! Its stagnant and full of frogs for dismembering.
The swelling will go trust me it does........... to then leave a big red ITTTTTTCHY patch, and they scar too. I never itched last years and they scarred my legs and feet with 1cm purple patches.

Bourgogne, your geraniums all flower and no leaf, I can just picture... like my basil without any leaves now...Actually geranium is also used for painful periods LOL...
As for the cigarette burn, it sounds downright barbaric. I've never heard that before.
It's good if you've found a repellent.
Mosquitoes are more active after a spell of rain or damp??? I haven't kept up with the meteo to see what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, here in the south, the drought is one month early but we did have some thunderstorms a few days ago and mosquitoes were definitely around then.
Now of course I swear by pyrethrum, since it worked so well for ants etc... and especially since it is not so toxic to pets or humans... it's quite expensive, about 9 euros, but it does work like a dream... although, probably not useful to you right now.
