Hi Kit Kat,

We are in Beziers and still 'on'. We have a monthly contract for the Sky card. To get a replacement you need to contact your supplier who should organise it. You don't need a U.K. address.

This isn't an anti -expat move, as we have had this twice before, once living in England and once in Ireland. Sky do it periodically to eliminate rogue/stolen cards.

Hi. One of my 2 boxes cut out today,so we unplugged and plugged up again and it was fine.Even without a card, they should still pick up most channels (not Ch 5,for example).Try it .Paul

No, you will know when your new card has been posted as you are supposed to get a message on your screen. If, however they have written to your non existant UK address and had post returned, this may be t6heir way of getting you to contact them
We in Spain still have full SKY access.

We've been in France for 3 years with our Sky TV but have maintained our Sky address in N Yorkshire at a family members address; so in theory Sky think we are there. Sky sent our new card there and our family sent it on to us. I'd suggest you contact Sky and give them a new UK address belonging to a family member or friend and ask Sky to send another card to that address. Then ask your family to send it on.
Happy viewing - Nick

For anyone who appears to 'lose' Sky at any time I would advise leaving the card in and switching off at the mains for about 1 minute. Gives the receiver time to clear the memory and reboot.

FWIW kit kat, you will still be able to get your STV progs but you appear to be coded to a London region as your local broadcast. You will find all the other regional variations up at the top of the band.

For 2 weeks we have had a message flashing up to say we need a new card with a contact www.sky.com/replacecard. Following the prompt I ordered online and a free replacement is being despatched to a secret Uk address in Dorset. I don't know why but the current card forces us to watch Manchester news where they have a very funny weatherman. Is it possible to select your preferred region?
Because the card is not linked by telephone to Sky this must have been pre-programmed when we bought the card 2 years ago for £75

I'm no expert on Sky but here's a workaround which you may find useful . . . or not

All the regional variations are carried regardless, and as my previous post, you'll find them listed at the top of the band (900's up)

If you go through the on screen menus you can set up your 'favourite' channels.
Select the region prog you prefer and save it as a favourite.

Then, each time you access the EPG, press the BLUE button which will bring your favourites to the top of the listings.

AFAIK, your channels 101 and 103 are present on your card according to your postcode. So your replacement should arrive preset for Dorset.

EDIT:

You could just buy a 'Freesatfromsky' card for £20 which will give all the free-to-air channels carried by Sky.

the regions you receive for 101, 102, 103, 104 and 105 are all determined by the postcode of the address that the sky card is registerd to.

So if you 103 is Granada then your card was registered at an address in the Granada region.
The only way to changed these is to contact sky and change the address of the card.

Even without a viewing card you can still see the free BBC chanenls, and the free IT1,2,3,4 c4 and five channels.

If your viewing card is not inserted correctly into your sky box then you will getthe default bbc and itv1 regions - ie BBC1 London, ITV1 Central (west I think). Once you insert your sky card your regions will go to the ones that are determined by your postcode.

Sky do it periodically to eliminate rogue/stolen cards.
Almost. They do it as they improve the encryption system they used, and the old cards are not compatiable with the new system...
So the old light blue cards were only compatiable with Version 1 of the encrytpion. These were replaced around 6 years ago, tot he blue / yellow house cards,. that work with version 2 of the encryption. And now they are sending out white sky cards that work with version 3 of the encryption.
Its not just Sky that do this, all satellite operators change their card over the years to help prevent people hacking the system and getting pay tv channels for free, and to try and combat the new way to get TV for free - card sharing.

All BBC regions are available via the EPG, as analyst said, they are availabel from 971 upwards.

If you want any other ITV1 regions (not the ones on 103) then they must be manually added to your Other Channels lists

http://www.satandpcguy.com/Site/extr...annels_sky.php

However, you cannot add these Other Channels to your favourites list or get your Sky+ or SkyHD+ to record from them
