Long Term Lets in Normandy
Hi.
I hope someone can help. We are looking for a rural rental property to rent for about 6 months. We have sold our property in the UK and would like to rent a property in Normandy while we look for a house to buy. My wife and I intend to move to France to live
Many thanks
Steve

Be aware though that most rental contracts are for a year. You might have to consider a vacation rental.
Can you specify the area you're interested in more precisely? Normandy is a big place.

Are you looking to buy in Normandy, or do you plan to use this as base for searching further afield. Agree with Novocastrian, you may be able to do a deal on a six months holiday let. Share a bit more.

February isn't the best start time if you're negotiating a 6 month rental on a holiday let - it would take you into the middle of high season. You could probably negotiate a good deal up to May/June, but I doubt anybody is going to let July go at a knock down rate. You may do better if you settle for 4 months if you want to go that route.

Many thanks for the replies and advice guys. We are looking to settle in, or as close as we can to Orne, trying to find a rental property for the time being, while we find a property to buy.
All the best

Couldn't agree more.
There are usually lots of gites available at this time of year, but they may have bookings from Easter, so you may need to be a bit flexible.
Also, Orne is pretty big, it can easily take 2 hours to drive from one side to the other. Do you have a smaller region in mind?

Were flexible when renting, so if anyone knows of a rural rental property anywhere around the Orne area, we would be interested.

Two points.
I see that you are listed as electronics technician - repairs to electronic equipment.
Are you intending to work in France?
You have an interest in classic cars.
Obviously, Le Mans has its classic cars rally and Tours has frequent classic car "get togethers".
In 2013, one of the local communes had around 100 classic cars on display outside the Mairie.
For example, the secretary of the Panhard society lives just outside Tours.
Good luck with your move.
