Default Logistics of moving

Hi Everyone.
I've been stalking the site and the French property scene for a few years now and have decided to bite the bullet and put our UK property on the market.

What I thought of was to put everything into storage, rent in France either Chantres or Dordogne region. Find out exactly where we want to live.
Hopefully by then our UK house will be sold.
Then find a property we want in France and move in.
Easy when I say it like that...
It has been suggested that I don't sell my UK property - but if I don't I am not sure how I could afford to buy a French property. hmmmm

I'll will continue to work - as a Paramedic overseas, so the issue of work etc is not an issue, nor is being paid directly in Euros into a French bank account as I work for a international company. So I am very fortunate as far as that is concerned.

your thoughts?

Mike

My biggest fear is not having decent medical cover in France.
I pay for private medical in the UK as I have a couple of pre-exisitng conditions and don't like waiting a week per test in the UK NHS market.

Could anyone recommend a decent health care insurance company or link in France - my existing one said they wouldn't cover me if I lived in France (only if I visited).

Your help much appreciated

Mike

I'd recommend shopping around at any of the big insurance companies, cover isn't cheap but they don't generally take conditions into account.
We put everything except basic furniture into storage for 6 months and the removals picked it up on the way (we rented in the UK for 6 months but had already bought a house).
Renting in France gives you a better chance of finding a house as some are only advertised with a phone number on the gate!

You may have already found a wealth of info re health cover via the Search box. Given you work for an 'international' company, perhaps they have some advice based on their knowledge. If you are able to rent your UK home and use that to help rent in France may be one approach. Until you have tied up loose ends I would counsel caution at wholeheartedly jumping, or even interim. To arrive and find the medical side of your is problematic re health cover could bite you. However, cover is out there, if you have the where-with-all. Others with greater knowledge than I will help fill in the gaps. Just keep asking the questions here.
