I'll bear that in mind for the future .... suffice it to say if I were to stay at one in Paris this time then I may well have taken a wrong turn somewhere

Stayed in the one in Chateauroux basic but OK

Usually fairly basic but clean and often with good restaurants.
I havn't used them for a few years but they are government approved and clean.

We stayed at a Logis Hotel in Les Arcs sur Argens (Hotel Aurelia) in the end. Thanks for the recommendation, it was a fantastic hotel, and I would recommend Les Arcs as a stop over should you be going that way, its a lovely place
