Healthcare in France
Hi,
I have owned a property in France since 2000 although still live in the UK.
We have been considering taking the step of moving out there permanently if work permits - we are 41 and 38.
My query relates to ongoing healthcare. I am insulin dependent diabetic. In the UK i get free prescriptions and see a Diabetes consultant once a year for ongoing checks.
Does anyone know what the situation is in France for someone who is not retired and requires similar treatment. Surely an insurance company would not take on someone with an existing condition?
Thanks
Alun Jones

Hi Alun
welcome to the forum. You will be classed as an inactif if you move to France now, and will need to get private health insurance to cover all your costs. By law, the mutuelle companies have to accept you, even if you have an existing condition. Not sure of the costs involved - onlyonebrenda could probably help you there, sure she will be online soon.
Some of the one's used by members here include AXA, Swisslife - if you do a search on Google you will find more.
