Thanks for the reply. My idea is that hopefully the livebox connection and UK phone will work with this attached to the wall socket.

The wall socket connection may be totally French, but telephones and modems are pretty international and connect up. I use three French connections to piggy-back from wall socket to SFR modem and landlline UK phone. Jobsagudun!

I believe you'll find there are very few reasonably modern phones which will not work in France.
The phone end of the cable is pretty universal it's just the other end which may be country specific but you can buy suitable replacement cables in most Bricos.
