Just a quickie - I hope!
In the Uk, if you miss a phone call, you can dial 1471 and the number is read back to you. I'm sure there is an equivalent in France but I can't find it in the annuaire. Anyone know what it is? Do you have to subscribe, as in the Uk, or is it automatic?
It is interesting that on the Pages Jaune website you can put in a number and the name of the caller comes up, useful if you didn't catch the business name but have the number, I have found!
Cheers

Well it works, but it doesn't pick up every call, just some of them.

And if you ring 1471 here, it costs you a pound each time! Hope that isn't the same in France .....

3103 here, not 3111 - no idea why?

The 3103 is a France Télécom answering service, which saves buying a separate machine. It's free and, if I remember rightly, you just ring France Télécom on 1014 and ask for it. It will even tell you which numbers rang without leaving a message.
The 3131 just gives you the number of the last person who rang (who hung up before the message service was switched on), and FT will return the call if you press 5.
These numbers concern FT landlines, I don't know about other Providers' ADSL lines.
