Flies in Charante Region
Hi we recently bought our farmhouse in charante region. We knew this area was susceptible to flies so not a great surprise to us. However just wondered how others deal with this and best solutions to keep the pests at bay... thanks

I think flying insects sorts have been a problem all over France this year. I can assure you that Provence is not excluded.
We fight back with window screens, bead door curtain curtain, patches on the windows and non- chemical sprays. If all else fails arm yourself with a fly swat and have a competition with friends to see how many can be delt with in a given time. The joys of country living!

I sometimes work in an office that has an insectocutor and in summer it's satisfying almost to the point of orgasmic every time you hear one of the blighters go FFFZZZzzz and know it won't, ever, ever again drive you berserk with its horrid buzzing and its lack of respect for your personal space. Specially the big juicy ones, they sometimes give off a spark or two.
But probably not the ideal solution for a private house, an insectocutor isn't a thing of beauty.

We have "fly paper" that sticks onto the glass in the window.
It is less obvious that traditional fly paper and all flies head towards the windows.
