EDF bill doubled, pays to query estimates
No linky box installed yet, but had a bit of a shock when my EDF monthly bills literally doubled, despite we're possibly using less electricity than previous years (which have always been at a consistent level anyway).
I assumed it was just an error in their estimates, so contacted them (busy phonelines!) and they didn't understand why the estimates were so high either, so have halved them again back to their normal level. Phew.
If you do get a bit of a shock in the post (no pun intended), check your latest consumption, previous payments, and do query the estimates.

And regularly read your meter and send them the usage

I think with Linky that may be a thing of the past? Do they not automatically receive the usage without need for manually checking? If the bill seems off, definitely worth checking yourself though.
