Easter - planned strike actions
For anyone planning to travel during the Easter break, be advised of the following:
The railway unions have announced strike action which could well cause a great deal of chaos. This according to the unions is being classed as 'an innovative mobilization, and announced this move yesterday - a strike at the rate of "two days out of five" from April to June, against the reform of the SNCF called by the Macron government. Discussions are still ongoing, but the strike action has been planned to cause the maximum disruption to the country for a total of 36 days, the exact days of which are indicated in the above link.
Also eleven of the Air France unions have announced strike action on 23 & 30th March over wage stuctures that were not settled during their last Feb strike. The 30th March action in particular will cause maximum disruption to air travellers over the Easter period.

Re: Easter - planned strike actions
I've just added to that Bad Jokes thread - which I feel is far more heart-warming than the long, ongoing social situation with the country here.
As I've mentioned before, our son departed France some 20 years ago, a short while after his International lycee was temporarily closed due to student's strikes and picketing, as he feared that the frequent nation-wide multi-strikes and social unrest in France would endure long-term. He certainly got that right, and has never looked back.

Just after the Easter weekend, during the Spring school holidays, jeopardizing travel around the May ponts (and how about the 8th May and Ascension Thursday in the same week?), and, to cap it all, before and after the Pentecôte weekend.
Perfect to emm....er everyone!

There would certainly be little point in strike action that didn't cause maximum disruption. France hasn't had anyone like the Thatcher Witch to kill off the unions so they are still an effective tool for the downtrodden.
