Default Double ovens in France

Has anyone had any joy purchasing a double oven in France? i know there may be an issue of installing the casing/unit as well, but think we can get around that. I only want something like a Hotpoint...I don't need anything pricey. I know there are some quite expensive ovens out there, but really don't need pricey, just practical.

We tried everywhere and failed. The only ones we did find were a normal oven and a microwave. I think perhaps overhead grills are less popular in France. Eventually we imported a NEFF from the UK - self cleaning! 'er indoors was over the moon.

You then have the problem that ready made kitchen units here are built for either one or two normal size ovens, rather than the smaller casing for double ovens.
Next of course the floor mounted units are lower, meaning you have to take the top off the washing machine, dishwasher etc to fit them in. (Although I understand there is an initiative afoot to raise the work top height because of all the back problems they cause).

We got a slightly slimmer range style which Darty dropped on our front door step and damaged but they replaced it without issue and gave us 5 years extra warranty free for all the products we got with them for our trouble.

These microwave options above an oven appear to have a grill, but nothing else useful. I think I am having to plan on 2 ovens for big occasions, so think I will opt for one next to each other or one on top of the other. I am not a fan of under work surface ovens, as you can't see what's going on! The cooker units really are quite peculiar out here. Thanks

Bigglesworth....Do you mind me asking what supplier you used with Neff for shipment? Also, can units be easily adjusted out here to fit a double oven, by adjusting or removing shelving etc?

JVC sorry - sent the boss over with a van to pick her oven. I think you might find John Lewis would deliver. The really good thing about that is their guarantee works.

Fitting - depends how handy you are.
Me .... well I always say I can put a shelf and I might put my books on it,

But would I trust it with her glassware etc? Probably not.

You can, at extraordinary cost, get extra fillits. Generally, I try to buy in France, but on kitchen units, I think I would be tempted to buy from UK. (There are people near Civray who ship B and Q stuff over - not the greatest, but it works). When I get round to doing the kitchen properly I will probably have the units made.

Yes, Ikea would of been good, but you cannot preorder to collect in store, and their delivery is absolutely horrendous, especially considering you may be spending 1000s of euros!

I have never had an issue with their delivery, Personally Other than the vagueness of it's arrival time.

I assume you are talking built in ovens?

Not for me. After years of being a dedicated but under equipped cook I went straight for a professional range cooker which I love.

However daughter who has the house next-door ordered a double oven free-standing cooker that seems to work fine. She bought it on-line but I can ask from where.
