I'm looking for a dog trainer in the Alsace region. Please let me know if you have recommendations. Someone who speaks a little English to compliment my intermediate French would be wonderful.

I've recently moved to Strasbourg, but sorry, I can't help, other than suggest that you enter "dressage de chiens" in Les Pages Jaunes, with a more precise location, as "Grand-Est" is too big!
Even if you and the trainer manage to communicate, remember that he/she will speak to your dog in French, and you must learn the orders, too!

My dog was trained in Italian. He never does what I want in either English or Italian. I suspect a bilingual dog is a disaster.

My two dogs were both French-speaking, as French OH (and daughters) spoke to them in French and I went along with them. I suspected that, unlike children, bilingual dogs might get confused....

I regret that I'm unable to recommend a dog trainer in the Alsace region to the OP. However I thought the following may be of interest to some:
With our previous dog from the time he was a pup until he passed away at 10, I always gave him most commands in both English & French. I've also done the same with our current pooch.
There were several reasons for this. I reckon that many dog commands in English are shorter, often monosyllable - thus a little easier for the dog to comprehend compared to similar French commands. We were also a little concerned that in the case of ever having to find a new home for the dog, or (in the case of our current pooch) if the dog should ever outlive us, a new French family should have no problems making the dog immediately understand their commands. Hopefully this will never be the case.....
Fwiw, I have a brother who's quite a bit older than myself, and he and his wife had 3 smallish dogs, one of which died recently. I was surprised to hear a month later that they had bought a new pup to bring the numbers back up to three, (don't ask......go figure)! I asked him if he wasn't a little concerned that the latest pup may outlive them, which met with the reply, "Gosh, we never thought about that."
I'm not sure exactly how many Eng/Fr commands our current dog reacts to, but I guess it's about half a dozen. The very first one he learnt rapidly was 'BARK' (on command or whenever the doorball rang), however the French equivalent 'ABOI' I never use, as it could lead to confusion with the somewhat similar command 'BOIRE' which he knows well.
Having said that, our pooch is far from top-of-the-class when it comes to understanding many words. In fact he'd be expelled from school if ever up against the following 'MensaDog', who it is claimed understands 1022 words!

My little fella came from a French rescue centre. His ex-owner was French. I speak very little French so the dog pretty much ignores me unless he's hungry.

Although our pooch is an Airedale terrier - a breed historically originating from the West Riding of Yorkshire, I reckon his ADN must be 1% English and 99% French as he loves to eat and lives to eat! Twice a day we give him the correct amount of food, after which he always goes around the house licking the floor everywhere in search of any crumbs (there never are any) so then goes around licking all the leather furniture! It's infuriating! And like many Yorkshiremen (so I'm told) will never take "NO" for an answer!

Your little friend sounds exactly like mine. I fear his lifestyle is not good for his health but my wife is such a soft touch he gets plenty of extra treats beyond his meals. We live without leather furniture because the humidity here means there would be more fur on the furniture than on the dog.

It sounds as though you need AC, or open the fridge door every hour or so.

Now back on subject. It appears as if Vertedee went out for a walk last Thurs, slipped the lease and never returned home!
