Credit Agricole Carte Bancaire

Re: Credit Agricole Carte Bancaire
just a word on the 'extras" you get with your carte bleu....
we once went skiing in Andorra. DS broke his wrist (both bones, yikes) and he was taken to the hospital there. Eventually, they asked us for insurance and we handed over the EHIC. Andorra is NOT in the EU - something which of course we knew but hadn't actually thought too hard about. After all, it is just over the hill from Ax-les-thermes where we skiied all the time.
Thankfully, our carte bleu came with insurance and it was an absolute godsend. We were offered translation services, full medical bill paid, repatriation for our son if needed ( it wasn't). 90 euros a year for the whole family - bargain.

Note that HSBC and Barclays in the Channel Islands / Isle of Man will no longer open accounts for French residents as there is some new piece of legislation which makes us all high risk for them. You might want to keep the account you already have then. They wouldn't tell me any more than that when I phoned them a few weeks ago. Santander International will still open accounts for French residents and "only" want £25k held on their accounts to avoid monthly charges.
