Default CPAM & Social Security Number

Hello all

Happy new year

I am starting to collect a few numbers now from SIREN to SIRET to NNI!

My question....

I am trying to register with CPAM online. The site is asking for my 13 digit sociale securite number. From the RSI I received a 15 digit NNI number. Is the NNI number my social security number? I have tried to enter this number(minus the last two digits) but the CPAM site does not recognise it?

Hi, if you're a man, your S.S. number will start with 1, if a woman, with 2. This is followed by the last two digits of your year of birth, the month of birth and 99 if you weren't born in France, then 8 digits which, from all my family's S.S. numbers, seem to be random.
Other than that, I can't help, sorry!

French-born people have the number of the Département of birth and 00 doesn't exist. Try entering 99 instead of 00....

No joy with the 99.

Thanks anyway

I may have found the answer. As I was given the number after I set myself up as an AE, I think(according to the web) I still have to contact RSI?

Not sure what you're trying to do - but if you are paying cotisations under AE, CPAM is not your caisse.

When I first came over last August I set myself up as an AE. I have some doctors expenses that I would like to claim back and I was under the impression I do this at my nearest CPAM office or online?

You claim your refund from whichever caisse you are affiliated to. So if you came under RSI at the time of the treatment, you need to send the forms to RSI. (Keep copies of everything because from what you hear, RSI lose things more than most.)

But if the treatment happened before you got your attestation from RSI, then yes I guess you would use your EHIC and in that case it would be handled via CPAM.

Basically, CPAM is the general caisse and deals with everybody who is not eligible to join one of the other caisses by virtue of their profession. If you do depend on another caisse then CPAM does not cover you.

Thanks for the info folks. Looking through my paperwork it looks like I have been barking up the wrong tree!
When I set up as an AE I chose Les Mutuelles du Soleil as my 'organism conventionné d'assurance maladie'. I emailed them today and received this response -
Sir, hello,
Further to your mail, I have registered your phone number and email address. However, to enable us to regulate your file RSI, it is necessary to send us a bank account or postal order to make any refunds via bank transfer. On the other hand, I attached to this declaration of choice of doctor to return duly completed and signed. To enable the RSI issue you the vital card, we also provide the original of the extract of birth certificate with the names and first names of your parents, issued by the Mayor of your place of birth accompanied by a sworn translation (document by a translator registered in a court of appeal)., and a copy of your passport.
I remain at your disposal for any further information
Cordially

My questions are - can it be a local translator as long as they are registered with the marie or court? If I am correct my wife and son will be associated to my 'file'?

Thanks as always.

any registered translator (whether local or not) will do the job. You need to look for some "traducteurs assermentés", and a list is available from your local town hall.

Yes the members of your family will be linked to your number and will use the same number if needed (ie to visit the doctor).

List also available at your local Tribunal and Commissariat and in the Pages Jaunes, but they are an elite group - be aware that they charge the earth!
The reference to the Mayor of your place of birth isn't applicable. All French people get copies of their birth certificates from the Mairie of their place of birth, wherever they happen to live now, and most French people think that all countries follow the same procedure.
Good luck!

I have received a quote of €173 TTC for 3 birth certificates to be translated. I am still waiting on some other quotes but does this seem about right?

Hi, no idea about current tarifs. As I said, they are an elite group and can charge the earth since their stamp is indispensable. I imagine other quotes will be similar - after all, they are in competition with one another!

They(RSI) have asked me to supply the following - (for my carte vitale file)-
For my wife

4 - Attestation CERFA ci-jointe

Are points 1 and 3 not the same? 2 is ok as passport will do. 4 is a form they sent me.

For our baby

1 - Copie livret de famille complet

2 - Acte de naissance avec filiation(pour les etrangers, cette piece doit etre traduite en francais par traducteur assermente et legalisee ou apostillees pour recevoir ettet en France)

3 - Attestation CERFA ci-jointe

Any ideas what point 1 is? A family book. I was thinking the red medical history book new borns receive? Point 2 and 3 as above.

Thanks for any help

A copy of all your valid passports equates to livret de famille.
