Not sure on comparative prices for the broadband - we have a package aimed at expats and we get unlimited free calls to English speaking countries - useful in those first couple of months when you missing everyone in the UK and need to hear friendly voices -

Hi PJ, the post above yours has a link that looks like it will be useful.

Put Teleconnect France into google. That's who I use and get the same as Paulajayne, English speaking staff so any problems are easily sorted too.

We use Alice ADSL. It's basically Tiscali France. When you move to France you're not really given a huge choice of providers if you (like us) are out in the sticks. There are sites that you can use to check your ADSL availability, and which companies are available to choose from. Try this link to test your line for suitability if you already know the telephone number.
We pay €29.99/month, and as we're not able to opt out of the France Telecom Cartel, we have to pay their equivalent of a standing charge bi-monthly too. Paying for both is still cheaper than using only the FT line though. We get unlimited free calls to English speaking countries, as well as free landline calls within France Met, and also an hours worth of free mobile calls per month too.
There have been some niggles, and their modems aren't the best (Hitachi), but if you replace the modem with a decent modem/router, then it's quite good.
HTH.
