So... I'm here! Moved from China to UK to Nice in a few months. My job is ridiculously busy- thankfully my colleagues are really great. Was near impossible to find a long term rental so am sharing for the season, meaning my cats are at my moms until I fly them over as soon as I get my own place. I miss my girls! Unfortunately I didnt have chance to get my driving licence- there were no test dates available in the UK and my job needed me to start straight away, so I have to start again here by doing the Code. It's bloody expensive here!
If anyone's around then say hi!

It's VERY expensive anywhere in France to do the Code and then the Driving Test, but good luck!
If no one in the area responds to say hi (there are a few BE members) you could try a dedicated regional forum.

Hi thanks! To be brutally honest... it was pure luck. It turned out I used to work with a girl a few years ago who is now one of the managers! As soon as she got my CV she called me straight away. Nobody else called me. The Chinese has been useful and I found a teacher to continue studying. Aaahhh the CDI... It's like gold dust here!

Welcome to Nice! You're one of the lucky ones with a job which, in addition, makes you ridiculously busy! I won't be nosey and ask for details, but I do wonder what you had to offer which got you the job over all the unemployed in the area! Maybe knowledge of Chinese? Once you've got the payslips (or CDI Contract) to justify that you earn 3-4 times the rent, you may find it easier to get a long-term rental (which accepts cats) after "the season"....
