Hi ive been trying to get hold of an immobillier in brittany and keep getting the answering machine - i can make out that it is saying they are closed lol
and that the opening hours are .... i think ........ between douze 12 and dix huit - 6pm but cant quite work out the rest

can someone help please?
what are the usual open hours of estate agents/ notaires offices in brittany ?
is it a bank holiday or similar today and thats why they could be closed?
what do messages on answering machines in france usually say?.... in england it would be something like: this office is closed and you cannot leave a message, our normal hours of opening are between 9am and 5pm .... (I guess i am presuming that the message says something similar lol)

its a rather fast message and i have to admit i do still struggle with translating spoken french especially when its not face to face (find i can usually get the gist of conversations easier when i can see facial/body expressions lol )
hope someone can help

Hi Abbs.
I think you'll find that most estate agents and notaries are shut on Mondays, or at least Monday mornings, so this is what they may be saying. Some notaries open on Monday afternoons (abt 2 pm) but I can't be sure about estate agents. This being winter and the 'off-season' tho' they may be shut until Easter.

i never thought of posting it on here lol ....... guess thats against the rules then huh?

I guess I will have to send another email
it was just that I have seen this house for sale before and when I enquired they said it had sold and took it off the site, it reappeared this weekend after being off a month - I am hoping that whoever went to buy it has pulled out and that it isnt a BAIT HOUSE like they have in spain (prior to getting ill we looked at many houses in spain, the estate agents always showed us different ones and never took us to the ones i had asked to see - we decided that they didnt exist = bait house to get you over so that they can sell you anything else but! ) having wasted 12 months going back and forth to spain to see non existing houses (was only moving to spain because my brother lives there lol) I decided enough was enough and I was going to Brittany where I really loved - I love the area, the people and so far I'm again not having much luck with the houses I find
am I doing something wrong do you think? BUT THIS HOUSE ..........

It's THE ONE you know ? when you see a place and you just go wow i love it! thats how this one got me lol and I just want to do all that i can not to miss out again
thanks for everyones advice and help with this question - i'm off to write another email lol wish me luck x

I assume you have checked the web to see if they have their own site, or even a cross-ref from a regional/local, publicity/immobilier linked site.

Hi, damn bad luck,
If you know of a property finder in the area (rather than an Estate Agent), you could mail him/her a picture of the house you just missed and ask them to find something similar in the same price range.
