Default thailand living costs

could anyone please tell me how much of an income i would need to retire to thailand. Preferably near a beach.i realize it could vary greatly. I dont drink but would like to eat out. and would like a good quality rented apartment with air con. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Quiet place with no huge extravagence about USD 800 a month would be easy to eat out twice a day on that

cheers don , is a quiet area still a safe area.

You get the odd report of foreigners being killed (usually by drunks/ drugged/ bungled thefts) from time to time in out of the way parts (eg far north) but you should be safe in most beach/ island areas
