Default Retroactive p85?

Hi all,

Quick query. I left the UK over two years ago and did so thinking that all details were taken care of. However, I never filled out a p85 upon leaving. I realise I could feasibly have claimed some tax back (always payed by PAYE) and will almost certainly not get it back now, but that's life. Only after a couple of years did I even hear of the existance of a P85 form. Should I now fill this out retroactively? Or is there no longer any point?

Thanks muchly

Of course there is a point! There is no problem filling in P85 up to 5 years after you've left the UK.

If you have a look at the form, there is a box where you say for which tax year you're claiming. The UK tax year runs from 6 April 200x to 5 April 200y. Just write down which tax year you're claiming for and away you go.
