I'm seeking out a tax haven that lets me keep more of my business profits!

I work as a sole proprietor out of the UK at present, but most of my sales are to the US. I was wondering if there are any places in Europe where I could relocate to that are known tax havens.

Any suggestions?

Jon (I hate paying tax!)

You might try Russia. They appear to be flexible about collecting taxes. Although if
they take a dislike to you the taxes can be high and the legal system is pretty
nonexistent.

Another possibility might be Bulgaria or Rumania. They need an economic fix enough
that they might be willing to cut you a deal.

First, you would need to find one that will accept you. Tax havens manage to get away
with low taxes by only accepting immigrants with huge per capita incomes.

The usual practice for UK businesses is to register the company offshore, often in
the Channel Islands. You don't need to move there to do it, but you do need to have a
resident as part of the company. Being nominal Directors on company Boards is a good
source of income for many Channel Islanders. However, HM Government is not well
disposed to people who register offshore for the sole purpose of avoiding UK tax and
it is much easier if you register offshore before you start trading.

Perhaps that person is the one who is unwilling to pay those taxes.

If you are UK resident and domiciled and the company is accustomed to act in
accordance with your directions, it is UK resident for tax purposes no matter how
many offshore directors you have. Of course, it may be difficult for the UK Revenue
to prove that you are managing and controlling the company...

Like I said, get decent advice. Do it wrong and you could go to prison, like several
others who've gone in for offshore tax fiddling (including a certain Mr Allen who got
7 years and has lost two appeals).

Hi,

well there's that guy who took an old artillerly platform as salvage on the high seas
and declared himself king.

Perhaps those pennyless, homeless people that don't exist in Paris and other European
cities, _would_ pay for the services, if they had two centimes d'eur ... er, sorry,
'cents', to rub together.

How many hours a week are YOU willing to work to support these: "pennyless, homeless
people that don't exist in Paris and other European cities".

How many hours ?

I work 35 hours per week. I probably pay a couple of euros per month of my wages, to
social services. It's money well spent, as far I'm concerned.

Money well spent... pathetic... your willing to give these people a few euros a
month to keep them living just above subsistence... instead of forcing the many that
can be accountable and responsible for their own wellbeing. These homeless
individuals with your euros will suffer from many many illnesses and a life
expectancy considerably shorter.

How many HOURS a week are you willing to work for this bargain you tout so highly ?
