Montenegro
We are seriously considering purchasing a property in Bar, Montenegro. We've never actually been there and obviously would stay there for a few months before doing so, however we are just looking for any advice or important information anyone who knows the area city's give us.
We are a family of four, have two children, a 15 year old son and 7 year old daughter so we are eagerly hoping someone can advise us and help us make a decision on wether to pursue our little "adventure" of moving to Bar.
All help and advice will be greatly welcome good or bad.
Thankyou

Thankyou for your advice. Gaining information about Montenegro is difficult at best! We have literally only took the advice from one person who owns a property there as we don't know who else to ask!
We have found a 3 bedroom place in Bar through "Right Move" which looks absolutely stunning and for a good price! And you are 100% correct the sea view was definitely what caught our eye!! However we have took your advice on board and we will have a look at Croatia. Thankyou

From the children's point of view, your 15-year-old would have the same serious educational problems as in any Continental European country, unless he went to an International School. Without the language and culture, how would he be able to take, let alone pass, the Final Year exam? Your Primary age daughter would also have to overcome the language problem in a local school but, like young children arriving in other European countries, she would learn and fit in much more quickly than her elders.
Make a search in individual EU countries' forums above, to see how adolescents cope (or not) with the extreme change. Their parents don't have the added stress of needing Residence Permits, or whatever, to live and work in the country.
Hope this will give you food for thought, at least for your elder's future... I would also think carefully about earning a living and getting healthcare coverage, and the nitty-gritty of living in a country where, presumably, you don't speak the language and there can't be many British expats on the spot to help.

Re: Montenegro
I appreciate your advice but we have looked into the education system and language barriers. We are not going to just jump on a plane and move to another country with our children without doing our homework or at least learning how to communicate!
We lived in Spain for 10 years so we know all about adaptation and all that comes with living abroad.
Our eldest son will be completing his GCSE's before we go. We havnt given a date stating when we wish to move, just asked advice on doing so!
There are other avenues we are considering also, Montenegro was just one place that caught our attention.
Thankyou

We've decided against the idea of moving there so issue is now closed.
Thankyou for your replies and advice.
