Default How many months in a Belgian year: 13, 14, or 15?

My British employer who employs me in Belgium for work performed in Belgium, pays me for 15 months per work year. I asked that they pay me a higher salary, but with only 12 pay periods, since I'm perfectly capable of saving money.

The employer said Belgian law requires them to pay me for 15 months. However, locals in Belgium tell me that only the 13th month is required (as a Christmas bonus), and that it's optional for an employer to pay a 14th and 15th month. Who's correct?

It was talked about 13 months payments when i came over, but i negotiated to get mine in the standard 12 months as per my original UK contract.

This was no problem .. i guess it is about negotiation when you join.?
