The Guardian
Good evening everybody,
I'm a translator from Greece and I am facing a problem with an article from The Guardian I have to work on. The article was written by John Yatt and has to do with the notorious film The Lord of the Rings.
Somewhere in the 3rd paragraph of the article, the writer says: Perhaps Dubya's war against terror is making me a bit uneasy, or maybe it's just good old-fashioned Guardian-reading imperial guilt, but there was something about watching...
So, the highlighted phrase has caused me a lot of trouble and I can't make anything out of it. The writerprobably says something about the newspaper's stance against the british empire but my historical knowledge is not so broad as to help me understand exactly what he means. If any of you users of this forum can help me out defining the precise meaning of this phrase, I would be very obliged. My apologies in advance for posting a thread that hasn't much to do with this website but I didn't know any other place to ask..
Thanks in advance.
