Default German IT Jobs for immigrants?

How about job oppurtunities in Germany for IT professionals.
I would like to hear from any german IT immigrant who moved there recently.

Raghu,

I just moved to Australia from Munich in Germany. The economy there is very bad at the moment, with unemployment quite high. There was a shortage of IT people a few years ago, in fact I believe that the German government made about 10 or 20 thousand working visas available for IT skilled people. I used to work for Compaq, and they brought a lot of their staff over from Digital India post Compaq/Digital merger. But the economic climate is a lot worse now.
