Default Eurostar from london - paris

Hi folks - just trying to do some preliminary info for our trip next spring to europe.

We are thinking seriously of spending some time in london and paris. We are thinking of flying into london and then catching the eurostar to paris.

Has anyone done this trip? Is it difficult to get from heathrow to St. Pancras station? Can we be comfortable on a cheap ticket (cheap seat) (without access to the lounge) for the 3 hour trip? Is it difficult to get from the paris airport to downtown hotel?

Any info would be greatly appreciated?

Can't help with the Heathrow-St Pancras side of things, but unless it's right next to St Pancras, you'd do better to ask how difficult it is to get from Heathrow to your hotel, since presumably you're staying in London some time before going to Paris?
As for the Eurostar, I've always taken the cheapest tickets and the seats are comfortable. The Eurostar arrives at the Gare du Nord which is in the centre of Paris, but if you decide to fly, both Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports have excellent connections with the centre of Paris. I'd avoid the expression "downtown", as, strictly speaking, there isn't one. Give the address and arrondissement (district) No. of your hotel and some one can tell you how to get there by public transport. For the Paris side of things, you'd do better to post on the France forum... (and download a Paris Métro map from the RATP website to locate everything!)

I've just found an old London Tube Map (2005) which shows that there's a direct Underground from Heathrow to King's Cross-St Pancras (Piccadilly Line)!! I presume it's still in service....
Enjoy planning your trip!

Dead easy travelling on the London underground. It'll take you about 40 mins on the tube and costs £4. Just check the line is running because of work for the next olimpics and you might have to take a less direct route but plenty of 'helpers' are about to give indications.
