i would like to know if anyone can help me locate resources to enable me to find out how many expats there are in the eu and also in which countries?

Hi there...
This is always a difficult one - countries don't seem to keep accurate figures, often because many expats don't register in the places they are living.
But the place to start for alll EU figures is Eurostat (long URL):
