Default Countersignature question

Edit; I live in the UK.

My first passport was a child's passport which ran out about 3 years ago, but I had no problem using it for like going out and stuff as I still looked the same. Now I'm just wondering if I will need to get a counter signature for a passport renewal, which will be my first adult passport. (you can still tell it's me in my old passport photo+new photo). The reason I'm asking is because the school I went to is on the 6 weeks holidays, and my Doctor has retired and I have no means to contact him, and I haven't really known anybody else for over 2 years or so.

Sorry if this isn't a question for this site I just wanted to ask because I've been searching and some things say I don't and then some say that I do...

No idea, he's the only Doctor I have ever seen so I don't even know any of the other ones at the Health Centre lol.

You will need to get photos countersigned as it's your adult application. Best to ring the Passport Helpline and ask their advice. You may have to attend an interview.

I went to the post office with a counter-signed application, but because the person who counter signed it put Cousin, when she isn't my cousin actually, they said i'd have to do another, and i'd be able to send it without counter signature because I still look the same, so it's been sent off already. And I got a text from the HMPO saying it's been received ect, so Idk if I will need it counter signed.

They'll be in contact if they decide they do want to have countersignatures.

The passport came today, could they still contact me for a meeting/interview thing within the next few weeks or should it just be ready to use?

It'll be a bit late now! Once you have your passport, that's it. HMPO is obviously taking a fairly lax approach these days

a friend's BH works in a Passport Centre. The horror stories she tells about the antics the mostly ethnic minority workers get up to.
including dropping a bundle of passports out of a window!!
