Question Can a company owner with German residence permit, study and/or work for a 3rd party?

An alien with a company registered in Germany, and his family all have German residence permit. Under such scenario, can the owner of the company himself and his directly related family legally study or work for a 3rd party?

I'd apppreciate your advice and as well as links to German immigration regulations in this respect. Thanks
