im reality mate you will come unstuck in the end, you may find your moving from one job to another with poor pay, why would you not want to get the License then you can start to charge a decent rate of pay, thats the real world.

may i ask why have you not done the license, it cannot be for financial reasons seeming your willing to work for less money.

doing the pre A class course at the Tafe gives you a very good grounding of the Australian standards also the new wiring rules or whats expected & whats illegal type of workmanship.

Most companys over here do seem to have more guys without a license than with one. The company im at only has around 6 guys with a license and another 20 that dont! And that goes for many other companys??!

stu:0;

thats all changing mate, when there license runs out meaning there supervised license they shall be on a limited time limit to get the A class license or they wont be allowed a restricted license ever again, they all need to think down the track regarding the licensing situation if not then they cannot complain if they end up working doing crap jobs.

Hello All,

Just out of interest Stu:o, how are the twenty or so employed, are they trade assistants or electrical mechanics, i only asked because a licenced electrician must sign off on a job, does that mean if you are working with one of these other guys you sign for his work. or do they work on seperate jobs and some one else puts a signature to their job.

i'm with Arthur, in the requirements for a licence when in the past it's mostly unlicences persons that caused the major incidents that made the government choose it decision to licence people, hence the requirements for training, i have seen some of the hideous wiring both in England and here in Australia and think that every other nation is making it way towards issuing licences

Regards

Kevin

Hi,

I'm from Brisbane Australia, and live in UK, I am a qualified Industrial Refrigeration Engineer, I did my 'D Permit' whilst i was doing my Apprenticeship,
I am now looking at doing my 2330 level 2 ,3 and 2356

The course i am looking at is Home Study, and i can gain this within 9 months,
the course is £5800
I then am going to move back to Australia , and hopefully get my electrical ticket? but is it as easy as this or not?
I don't fancy doing another 3/4 years apprenticship in Australia when I can gain it in a year over here and was hoping to change it to an A grade electrical licence in Australia?

Any help appreciated

Brad

where are you living stu?
here in adelaide there are no companies taking on trade assistants:(, believe me we've checked. Every job hubby has been interviewed for has requested an a class licence. If he had it he would have been working for months now.
i'm just crossing the t's and dotting the i's on hubbys application. Hopefully this time he'll be more prepared for the exam as he's been told they will be different questions and if the guy on the phone thinks he's reading from a book it'll be an instant fail.
