You called
You can do the course at either TAFE or a training centre called PEER.
TAFE courses are few and far between, are for three hours per week (evenings) for 18 weeks :scared:
PEER run their courses two days per week, from 9 - 4:30, and there are 7 days (so just 3 and half weeks). Obviously the better option, the catch being that it's about $250 dearer but that'll be easily made up cos you'll be out working in no time.
The tutor there is fabulous and will make sure you pass, if you need more time to finish then he is fine with that and it won't cost you any more. Definately recommend going down this route.
Tell them you need the AS/NZS 3000:2000 wiring rules course to enable you to apply for your unrestricted licence.
If you send of for your ARTC to the TRA as soon as you arrive, book yourself into the next available course while you wait for it to come back, you can have your licence within 6 weeks.
Here's some links you will need.
