Of course, I've yet to do this so it would be interesting to hear from anybody who has successfully done it already. Hope this helps. Regards Derren

Derren,
You've got it about right, I did pretty much that but I did four or five examples of the jobs, include photo's of you doing some of the work, I even had photos of my tool kit. list all your tools that you have ever used ( if you do a search on here there was a post with a mega list of tools) materials and test instruments.

Hi pompeypom, I've travelled all around Australia on a working holiday visa and on a number of occasions after. My wife and me decided to live in Brisbane because we know more people there than anywhere else. Perth and Melbourne were other considerations. What about yourself? Regards Derren

Hi mate
We will be going to perth as i have state sponsorship and friends and family in WA.We have been to Adelaide and Brisbane and liked Queensland very much and may head that way in a few years.We have just arrived back in the uk after validating our visa which was fantastic.I am now trying to get my ATRC cert sorted and if successful i will travel over to do regs course so when we arrive hopefully i can work straight away. While i was in perth i was talking to a couple of sparks in the pub who worked for themselves and there seems to be an upturn in the amount of work around when you have a licence.

What are tradespeople in Australia expected to be capable of?
You must demonstrate that you are capable of doing the broad range of work normally done by, and to the same level of skill as, a tradesperson trained in Australia.
The work of a tradesperson includes:
reading work instructions and technical drawings common to the trade;
planning independently the method and order of doing a job;
using measuring instruments correctly;
marking out, laying out and setting up trade work;
selecting appropriate materials, tools, machines and equipment;
making appropriate settings on tools, machines and equipment;
performing trade work independently; and
checking and /or testing work against established standards.
You must also demonstrate that you have adequate background/theoretical knowledge.

Hi stevo
I have enjoyed reading yours and wendy,s posts on this site and the kind advice you have given to many people hoping to emigrate.I have started putting together my atrc application and spent yesterday writing a detailed description of a job i recently carried out.Would it be possible to e mail you a copy for your perusal about the content and anything i might have missed.
I am confused about where to do the regs course,Adelaide or Perth since the post about a licence in perth in 4 months.
