hi kevin.
do you mean an ARTC certificate as electrical fitter? you can still do the A grade exams etc in SA with this as they only have one license there.

Thanks for your answer , however when i looked at the mutual recognition boad i found this.

Current Licence in SA Equivalent Licence in QLD
Electrical Workers Registration – Any Electrical Work Electrical Mechanic Licence OR Electrical Fitter/Mechanic Licence
1. If an equivalent licence indicates conditions or restrictions, see below for explanation of codes.
2. If 'No equivalent declared' is indicated please contact the regulator below. In such cases, a decision regarding licence equivalence will be made by the regulator in accordance with the provisions of the Mutual Recognition Act 1992.

Agreed scope of work for electrician licences
“Licensed electrician” means a person who is licensed to undertake unsupervised electrical work in a jurisdiction.
“Electrical work” means, selection, assembling, constructing, installing, testing, fault-finding, commissioning, maintaining, repairing, altering, removing, or replacing of electrical equipment and/or electrical installations. It may include the supervision or inspection of electrical work.
"Electrical equipment" means any appliance, article, accessory, wire, fitting, cable, conduit or apparatus that generates, uses, conveys or controls (or that is intended to, or has been used to, generate, use, convey or control) electricity operating above extra low voltage.
“Extra low voltage” means as defined in AS/NZS 3000"Electrical installation" is as defined in AS/NZS 3000 (commonly known as the “wiring rules”).

Does that mean that the licence maybe written as work or equipment, would someone with a SA licence please write down exactly what the licence states and if there is a fitter with a SA licence could you do the same, the reason being if it's the case that the licenses are different then i may as well go the Queensland route.

Regards

I was graded as an electrical mechanic on my ARTC and the SA licence i was awarded (Once i had passed Wiring Rules course) was "Electrical Worker, can perform any electrical work" as stated on the back of the card. I used mutual recognition for WA 'A' Grade licence no problems at all.

Hope this helps

John
