Hi all,
This is our first post on here so i apologise if you have all answered these questions about 5 times before! and for the length of this post!
Here goes....
In August 2011 (i know over a year away!) myself, my partner and our then 2 year old will all be moving to Cyprus as i am studying my 2011-2012 academic year at the University of Nicosia as part of my UK degree.
We have looked at renting apartments and have found one that we really like in the area of Esentepe, Kyrenia, North Cyprus. I will be taking my car (any advice on the route/cheapest way/insurance etc?) from the UK (we are going to take 1-2 weeks stopping off many times on the way). Is Esentepe a suitable location for:
1) a young family looking for a quiet place? and
2) commuting to the University of Nicosia 2/3 times per week?
If not can anyone advise a good location? We want to be close to the sea/beach but are trying to avoid it being to tourist area.
We have looked into the costs of living via various other websites/forums and have worked out that we will be able to live comfortably from our savings plus student loan/grant whilst out their with my partner not working. Does anyone have any ideas of costs that we could have possibly missed?
As with everywhere it is different living compared to a holiday and my partner will not be working is there many activities that she will be able to do with our son? e.g mother/toddler groups? etc
We definatley are going to move over for this period of time and want to make sure all our planning is as good as it can be!
If anyone has any advice it will be very gratefully recieved.
Thank you for reading..
Regards
Trev

Im starting to think to buy a cheap car (if possible??) and make sure it is all legal to drive. What legal requirements does a car need to have in Cyprus? e.g in UK its Tax, MOT & Insurance. Is this the same system? How would i go about insurance? and what is the likely cost compared to the UK for a small cheap car?
Thanks all
