That was a few years ago now, the Cyp pound no longer exists, its all euro's now.

What seems to be happening is, that people are still using the Cyp pound to do conversions. So, people import goods into Cyprus, use the GBP price, then convert to old CPY pound and then to Euro. What should be happening is a straight conversion from GBP to Euro. This is whats making things so expensive.

The salaries haven't really gone up any to compensate. Everyone is finding the island very expensive now for holidays and for general living.
I think what they need to do is just start thinking in Euros, if that is the currency they are using. I think what you got is poverty wages, in such an expensive country. 54 hours a week, boy I would get more than that sitting on my butt and sleeping half the time as a security guard blogging on my computer on this forum at 12.00/hour, and 18.00/hour on overtime.

My experience is that the locals actually prefer to with deal Brits than other locals.
We have never had any problems with Cypriots as far as our business is concerened but other Brits have given us trouble.
The locals treat you as you treat them, tread on their toes and upset them and yes they can play dirty. But treat them well, befriend them and they are great.
