Hello Everyone,

I have been reading the forum with interest and got a lot of helpful information already, however I have what seems to be a mildly unusual situation and I was wondering if anyone can help?

I am a Brit and my wife is Ukrainian. We were married on Cyprus and would like to relocate there as early as April 2018.

I appreciate as a Brit I am free to stay and work etc. However after scouring the internet for visa requirements for my wife, apart from a brief general reference to "Pink slips" being required, we are drawing a blank at quality visa requirement information online.

Can anyone suggest a link, island contact, government website that is up to date and works or perhaps an immigration specialist that might be able to provide us with the specifics ?

I suspect that what you are looking for is a "family permit" or "family members residence card". This is issued to a family member of an EU citizen to allow them to live in the country with their family if they would otherwise not be eligible to do so, i.e. if the family member isn't an EU citizen themself.

What you are effectively seeking to do is to "do a Surinder Singh", but without the last step of returning to the UK.

Thank you for your kind and helpful reply. Personally there is nothing in UK for me and I have no intention of residing there in future. I will look into the "Family permit" assuming the Cypriot Government Website actually works this time.

If anyone else might have a working link or further helpful advice regarding processing time etc it would be greatly appreciated.

It all looks rather straight forward though of course the proof will be in the pudding so to speak.

Can any expats give us some ideas about Private Health Insurance providers on Cyprus? Are local Insurance companies more efficient than International ones? Do we need two forms of cover? Domestic and International? What is everyone using there? Or is there a reciprocity treaty with the NHS in UK? Any suggestions appreciated.

I recommend that you create a new thread to ask this question as (i) this thread is old and therefore unlikely to attract much new interest and (ii) the thread title relates to visas, but the question is about health insurance, and people have different areas of interest and experience - to wit I can help with some matters of immigration and visas, but know nothing about health insurance in Cyprus.
