Default Advice needed on Work

Hello all. My name is Rob. I have just been offered a job with a Cypriot company aftre doing three months consultancy for them in Nicosia. The deal is Euro2k mth plus a 3 bed un-funished flat and all utilities paid for one year in Lakatamia and use of a car at my own expense. All sounds good but I still want advice on moving here on a perm basis. My wife back in the UK needs work also as a credit controller (20yrs experience) near Nicosia. if things go well my wife and 20 year old Daughter will come for extended holidays during the first 6 months then move over whilst we rent our property in the UK. Any advice on jobs, pitfalls etc most welcome.

Looking at these figures and circumstances, i would think you have a good deal there. You have employment and benefits, a good income and you will still keep your home in the UK, albeit on rental.
I would go for it. Maybe you could begin with asking your employer for help with finding your wife a job. You can also check the Cyprus Weekly, Cyprus Mail newspapers and various recruitment agencies. You could fax the recruitment ads to your wife in the UK to apply direct as well. It will not be easy, as there are few jobs around.
You have a grown up daughter, so no worries about schools etc.
Suggest you ask questions on this forum to specific topics for answers.

Best of luck Itsy - your job is a very good start
Is your daughter at University?
Nicosia can be a bit stiffling in the heat of summer (July, August)
As zygi says, prob best to ask specific questions

Good luck

2000 Euros per month is not bad, but if that were to be the only income you have then you would still need to budget. As a family of 4 (and 2 are toddlers) we need at least 200 Euros per week on groceries. Add to that petrol, car insurance, doctors, and other misc. expenses then there is not a whole lot extra. And it is true in the summer you will probably want to drive to a beach to get away from the intense heat in Nicosia.

I'd consider bring your own over, there are a number of people who specialise in this.
Or you can source a UK car and have it shipped over, this may be more cost effective than buying a 2nd hand one over here!
Let me know if you need a number for an importer or what to check this option out.
