SS Route - internships OK?
Hi there! My fiancee and I are giving serious thought to the Surinder Singh route once we're married in the new year (she's Japanese). I just have a simple question: provided I fulfilled all the other criteria (moving centre of life, living together etc.), would an internship be considered enough to activate my treaty rights? If so, would that have to be paid to some degree, or would an unpaid one be OK?
I'm confident I could get paid work of some sort, but in terms of my career path I've noted a few internships around that might actually benefit me more (I'm still a little green in my area of interest). It would be nice to know that this is at least an option if I can't find anything better.
Also, one more question while I think of it. Would moving my centre of life abroad require me to close my UK bank account, or is it enough simply to have an active bank account in the country I move to?
It would be great if anyone can answer these, or can offer any advice. Many thanks!
