Default Pre-settled Status Automatically Extended?

Hello, I'm posting here once more because this community has been such a great resource and has helped me out a lot. ***Posted on another thread by mistake****

My question is regarding my wife's Pre-settled Status. Based on what information is available, it appears that the Home Office's new policy is to automatically extend Pre-settled Status for 5 years, regardless of their situation. My wife’s current status is:

Status: Pre-settled Status (EUSS).
  • My wife's Pre-settled Status is set to expire on April 23, 2026.
  • Going back 60 months from that date, back to Friday, 23 April 2021, when she received her Pre-settled Status, my wife has only been present in the UK for a total of 22 months.
  • She has not been outside the UK for more than two consecutive years.
Question: Based on the above, will she automatically be extended with Pre-settled Status for 5 more years?

If anyone has recently been through the same scenario and can advise, it would be greatly appreciated.

If she has not been absent for more than two consecutive years then her PSS should be automatically extended.

No, she has not been absent for more than two years. Does her US citizenship have any bearing on her eligibility for the automatic extension of Pre-Settled Status?

She has no EU Citizenship and is only a US Citizen; however, her Pre-settled status was granted under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)

None, assuming she received her initial PSS as a family member of an EU citizen.

My wife received the 5-year Pre-settled Status extension on Thursday last week, six weeks before the expiry date.
