Default Passport for my daughter

Hi, am looking for advice. My daughter was born in the USA. Both parents are british citizen, and she plans to come to the UK to live next year. So my question is what's the best way to do it. Can I apply for a British passport or do I need to to go through the British consulate in the USA. Any help is much appreciate.

Both birth registrations and passport applications have now been centralised in the UK. Your daughter doesn't need to register her birth in order to obtain a British passport but it does act as standalone evidence of her British citizenship and can be used to obtain a passport without supplying any further documentation.
