We have quite a while before we return, obviously we like to get things ticked off the list early, is it possible to start an application say 8 months before and do medical how long would it be valid for 12month maybe?
if not we will do it like everyone else when we have wage paper work.

Spouse visa applicants who live in designated countries need to have a TB test, other than that there's no medical testing/exams.

Pretty sure there's no time limit, you register an account with Visa4UK and can log on and off anytime. The application's not going anywhere until you hit 'submit'.
