Default Job Sponsorship - easy or hard?

Hello All,
I've already posted some questions on the non EEA spouse discussion going on but thought it more pertinent to start a new one for this question.
Hubby will be looking for a secondary school teaching position for next year- Sept 2013. he's on the skills shortage list, so we are hoping the shortage is as bad as it seems to be from reading all the press.
My question is how wary are prospective employers - schools - about sponsoring employees? Obviously there may not be much info out there right now since this is so new but we are just trying to get an idea of how big an obstacle this might be to our moving back next year. I and our 2 kids are BC's but meeting the savings will be tough for us - house will not net enough profit due to the horrible market here right now. So we really need him to have a job!
Looking on the income scale - a Physics teacher that can teach to A level and a little above make enough to qualify. Of course it will depend what school he manages to find a job in.
Anyone know any Heads of Schools? LOL
