Where are you getting the idea that people are being given a month to leave?

There were a tiny number of people sent a letter by mistake for which the mistake was found in a couple of days and the government has apologised.

It isn't something to worry about.

Yes, you will all be able to move here, your wife, by virtue of her being an EU citizen, and your children because, assuming they are your biological children and you are a British Citizen other than by descent, are already British Citizens. Don't worry about the scaremongering around the letters sent out by mistake.

There is no visa for them to apply for. Your children, "assuming they are your biological children and you are a British Citizen other than by descent" (thx Mike), are already British citizens and your wife is, under current EU fully entitled to move to the UK to work or study. Full stop.

There is no chance that anything will happen until at least April 2019, and after that, as the wife of a British citizen she will undoubtedly be able to register and remain in the UK. ..... And I would willingly bet everything I own on that being the case.

In the very worst case possible scenario she would, after actual Brexit, have to apply for some sort of residence permit, but the idea that the British government would, or even could execute some sort of dragnet sweep across the UK and forcibly remove 5-10 million EU immigrants irrespect of their status in the UK, as relates to their family ties, is laughably absurd.

As others have stated there is no danger of your wife being forcibly removed from the UK. There may be a need to register after the UK leaves the EU but she won't need to leave. Providing you were born in the UK then your children will be British citizens like you.

Someone worth considering however is acquiring Finnish citizenship before you return to the UK. This will ensure that you all can return to Finland as a family in the future with no need to worry about visas.

You should apply for the boys British Passports using the link below -

https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

As the passport application process can take some time, the OP should start his boys' British Passport application ASAP.
