How to obtain British Citizenship for American born child, parent is British.
Hi I am new to the forum, thank you for letting me join. I have some questions regarding getting my daughter British Citizenship. I am British born, married an American, moved to the States, have 1 child here and now I am an American Citizen. I have a Son and grandchildren British born still living in the UK with other family relatives. My child is 12 years old. I have been to Gov.co.uk and looked at the requirements but they seem confusing.
There is no-one really to contact without paying huge phone fee's. I'd like to know if anyone can help me with this?
I'd be very grateful for any advice
Kind regards
Nikki

As you are British born and bred, your daughter, born in the US, is a Brit by descent (i.e born overseas to a British parent)
You just need to get her a British passport.

You should also consider consular birth registration. It’s not mandatory but I would recommend taking advantage of it where available.
