Default How many days allowed to stay outside UK on a spouse visa

Hi,

I am an indian and married a British guy. I have got the BRP card for first 2.5 years through 5 years route. Due to some family urgency I need to stay in India for sometime. I would like to know for how many days in these 2.5/5 years I can stay out of UK which will not affect my FLR decision in future. Is the time frame allowed on per year basis? Kindly clear my doubt as I do not want any issues during my ILR application. Thanks.

There is no set amount of days.

Rule of thumb is that if you are out of the UK for a large part of your visa validity, there is the possibility that you wont be able to obtain the next 2.5 year visa, but will have to 'extend ' the first one.

Thanks for your reply. What duration will be considered as a long duration? I would have to stay here for 2-3 months. Also, if I would need to extend my current visa, Will it affect my ILR/British citizenship application in future?

Just guessing: long duration ? 18 months spent out of the country for the 2.5 years visa

Two to three months would be OK - would explain why this absence when applying for next visa.

Yes, spending lengthy times outside of UK would affect when your could apply for ILR and British citizenship, and IF you could apply.

ILR and British citizenship are based on your living in the UK and it being your main residence - not hopping back and forth from another residence.
