That’s a very broad subject as it depends on the type of documents you’re talking about.

Bank statements , marriage certificates , employment etc .

Again, very broad, so I’ll keep my advice broad. If you’ve supplied originals or electronic scans then an ECO will have been trained to detect documents which have been doctored or fabricated. They can also check with the institution which they have been purportedly issued by to verify whether they are genuine.

That would be very easy to check, even an employer can do it within minutes online.

Relax. All people need to do is provide genuine documents and be absolutely honest in all aspects of their application, then there's nothing to worry about.

Realredwine has a lot to worry about, according to their own topic. This post asking about NI and DOB just adds fuel to the fire that some very dodgy stuff is going on..

For obvious reasons, matters concerning NINO's, DoB etcetera are confidential.. Need to know basis.

But as above, can easily be checked. An employer can find out their employee's NI number just by submitting an online request, it's pretty easy for most people to do so the HO must be able to do it in a heartbeat.
