Default Expediting process for UK spouse visa

We are looking to use the option to expedite the spouse visa. I believe it is $800. Has anyone navigated this process and if so could you provide any insight. I am finding it confusing with gold, silver, bronze, premium options mentioned but maybe not for spouse visas and maybe not in San Francisco.

Some specific questions are:
1. Is there a way to get a visa on the spot somewhere if we take all our paperwork? We are near San Francisco and I know there is a British Consulate there.
2. If we can't do the consulate option, and we pay the $800 to expedite, do you have any idea how much time could be saved by expediting? I have no idea if it reduces averages from 3 months to 2 weeks, to 24 hours, to 10 weeks...
3. If we expedite do we have to pay the fee on the vps global site? It feels odd to leave the .gov.uk site to pay the money.

Thank you so much!

1. No, all applications go through the vetting process via the UK.
2. Look at the 'UK Spouse Visa - No chat, thread for loads of people's timelines for priority applications. No two applications are the same so,even from these postings, you can only get an estimate of priority timelines.
UK Spouse Visa STRICTLY TIMELINES ONLY - NO CHAT
3. You pay on whichever site it tells you to. Different countries have different procedures.

1. No
2. Priority reduces the processing time for spouse visas to 30 working days - but it’s not available in San Francisco.
3. See 2.
