British passport/visa for a minor
Hi Guys.
I would like to get a British passport for my 4 year old son so we can live there for a few years. Is he able to get one? Or what do I need to do to allow him to live there if I can't get him a british passport?
Both my husband and I are dual nationals with a British and Australian passports.
I have mine because my dad was born in the UK, although I was born in Australia. And my husband wasn't born in the U.K but was naturalised as a British citizen when he was a child.
Thanks

Re: British passport/visa for a minor
I think that your son has acquired British citizenship from his father, who is British "other than by descent". He would be eligible for an ancestry visa through you, as you are British "by descent", but that won't apply if he is already British through his father.
Hopefully Brit in Paris will be along soon to confirm that.

If your husband was registered as a British citizen because his parents naturalised in the UK when he was a child then your husband would normally be British otherwise than by descent. This means that your son, like you, is British by descent. Therefore you need only apply for his British passport. What does your husband's citizenship certificate say and when was it issued?
