British passport via Dad - renew first?
Hi,
I've looked but haven't found something specific to this. My father (DOB June 1950) has a blue British passport but its long expired (>10 years). His parents also held their British passports (also long expired).
My siblings and I believe we can get citizenship through him. However, does his passport need to be renewed first before we can make our applications. Are there any complications to renewing his passport now that its >10 years?
My father is now Canadian as are I and my siblings. We were born in Canada after 1980. Any insight would be very valuable! Thanks.

If your father was born in the UK then you just need his full British birth certificate and your parents' marriage certificate in order to apply for your British passports as you will already be British citizens.
