I am rarely in agreement with the Daily Mail but sometimes egregious policies make strange bedfellows:

The first paragraph of the Mail article sounds like it comes from the "National Socialist Chronicle". I had a shower after reading it, but I agree with the sentiment of the concluding paragraphs. However, there are still a lot of sentences in there that have the smell of the jack boot about them.

From my understanding of today's British press, the details are being announced tomorrow and implemented next month.
It seems just under 19k GBP is the minimum income for a Brit wanting to bring in a foreign spouse.
Considering most stay at home child carers are women, let's call it what it is...
Sexist discrimination agains British born women who marry foreign nationals and want to go home.
It certainly screws my plans.

I've been looking at this and it's going to get challenged for sure. UN human rights say you have a right to return to your homeland and not be put into exile and I don't see how the British government can subscribe to these principles while making their own citizens get divorced if they want to return.

the tide of the thousands of curly haired murderers, rapists and thieves who freely walk our streets.
I admire the scope of the Mail's bigotry, at least the Nazis were more specific.

Well I would say the ballot box is the only avenue to change things, but I don't hold out much chance of repeal under Labour. The courts won't change a thing, certainly not international courts.

I agree about Labour, they proved that 1997-2010. But an individual could challenge the government, or a group of them.

Going to take a lot of money...or a lot of bad press and as it seems that people in the UK don't seem to understand these changes, or more likely they don't care because it doesn't affect them, it's unlikely, because there's not much one can do when one isn't in the country.

Belgium looks okay. Personally I would rather live somewhere like Sweden, Denmark or Norway. One may as well live in comfort if one is going into temporary exile in order to be able to afford to come back to the UK. In any event, they all have excellent TV shows (e.g. The Bridge, The Killing, Wallander, that other political one, the name escapes me just now) - it would be nice to understand them in their native tongues :-)

It's not necessary to go to a non English speaking country first, though I can think of several I would love to live in for a year or two. Ireland will do. A pesky matter of very little work over there though. At least in places like Germany, Norway Sweden and the like, there probably are work opportunities for skilled English speaking people who are prepared to learn the local language.

There's plenty people abroad can do. Move first to Europe and come back under EU rules. No fees for the Home Office , no income or asset tests, and serve them right. I think they have a cheek, applying tests to British citizens that wouldn't be allowed by the EU to be applied to any other European citizen, including any British people who live in Europe.

Heading back to the UK, via the EU, which is viable, would take to long for anyone to get to the UK to challenge this ruling to make much difference as it'll all be forgotten about in a years time.
